Kato GS-4 Update


What a beautiful locomotive! And pretty soon, it's DCC performance will be the equal of its appearance!

Here's the latest!
1). BLW first with the warning. As soon as we learned of the DCC problems with Kato's superb GS-4, BLW
posted the sad news on our website and also sent individual emails to all those who purchased the Kato EM13
decoder from us -- warning of the potential dangers (frying the decoder). We had this up and out before Kato
posted the news on their web page. The loco works great in analog ... but not in DCC.
2). The problem: It is not the decoder but the design of the locomotive which causes the issue. If you have
purchased an EM-13 decoder ... please hold on to it -- it will soon be able to work!!! (see #3 below)
3). The Fix: Kato has been working on the problem as soon as it was brought to their attention. As a result,
the release of KA-1260302 Southern Pacific GS-4 road #4453 will be delayed. Here's the good news. Kato
has a fix ... which will be "freely available" to you direct from Kato as soon as they can get the upgrade kits produced
and shipped. Please do not contact Kato at this time as the parts are NOT YET AVAILABLE. They will post all details
on their web site as this unfolds. Kato is to be commended for taking the steps necessary to correct this problem
and the professional maner in which they have handled this entire situation.
